The family and finances
1 Timothy 6: 6-10
We are living in a time when people are asked to consume, to buy. Advertisements elaborate, credit programs facilitated the new windows, etc., are a real appeal to spend. The source of many problems faced by families is the misuse of money and misuse of credit section.
This study aims to show the evils of the love of money, and the benefits it can provide, if used with wisdom and moderation.
I - LOVE OF MONEY AND ITS MALES
We are all aware of the importance of money for family survival. However, the love of money is the root of all evil, I Tim. 6: 10a. Jesus had spoken of the danger of money become a god in human life, Mt 6: 24. He meant that the pursuit of wealth might require a dedication so great that God demanded of his servants. It would therefore be impossible to serve both at the same time.
This was exemplified by Jesus when he met the rich young man, Mt 19:16-22. Not that wealth in itself was all bad, but the heart can be so taken by her that this constitutes an obstacle to following Jesus. When money becomes a god in human life, that person is able to use to illicit means to obtain it or use it. See how some act: there are people who lie and deceive for the purpose of profit and personal advantage, Prov. 21: 06; other similar exploit for their own benefit, Jr. 22: 13; Tg. 5: 4; many practice bribery, Isaiah 1: 23; Am 5: 12; that in addition to thefts, murders, assaults and many other crimes aimed at property or subtract money from people or institutions.
These practices do not solve the problem of anyone because the result of dishonest gain are the difficulties at home, Prov. 15: 27; disappointment, Ec. 5: 10; folly, Jr. 17: 11; misery, Tg. 5: 3 and apostasy, I Tim. 6: 10.
II - THE MONEY CAN BE BLESSING
Perhaps the word and the word money buy are the most widely used in homes. However, the bad attitude of some member of the family with money can harm everyone. But if there is good teaching and good financial management, surely the money will be blessing.
a) It is necessary unity and understanding among family members. If everyone has affection and trust each other if there is altruism, tolerance and respect as a basis for their relationship, the family can overcome their financial problems. We all need to know the difference between what is needed and what is superfluous, I Tim. 6: 8, cooperating with each other.
b) It should have a balanced attitude about money. It should not be seen as an end in itself. It's just a means by which to reach some values of life. On the other hand, we can not minimize its importance. It is fair to work, and strive to save some amount for unpredictable times and other necessities of life.
Save toward a better future for their children is a duty of parents and children learn to spend constructively and give due importance to money.
c) Determination of living within the income. Precautions should be taken to the household expenses do not exceed what is gained. If there is lack in finances, if parents exceed spending, it is clear that at the end of the month there will be financial difficulties.
III - FINANCE AND COMPLETE DEPENDENCE OF GOD
In Psalm 73, is the experience of a man named Asaph. He began to notice that the wicked were prosperous, healthy and seemingly happy, vv. 3-12, while he, who sought to serve God, was afflicted every morning. But, he concluded that the most important thing was to be with God, v. 28. Both this text, as in Psalm 127, we realize the importance and need to depend on God for our financial stability.
a) It is God who gives us the work and provides the means to meet our needs, Tg. 1: 17. Children need to learn to value the work and what is due him.
b) It is the best bit, the fear of the Lord, Prov. 15: 16. There are parents who, intending to earn more, they sacrifice their married and this causes serious damage to your home. Worship the job and leave out even the time it would be to enrich their family relationships.
c) There are promises of prosperity to those who honor the Lord with their finances, Prov. 3: 9-10; Ml. 3: 8-10, Luke. 6: 38. Honor the Lord with tithes and offerings is a matter of faith and obedience, and when the home emphasizes the contribution to the Lord, He opens the windows of heaven on his servants. Our contribution to the Lord is an expression of gratitude and joy on our part.
e) We must have wisdom to spend the resources that God gives us, Isaiah 55: 2. We need divine guidance on how, where and when to spend our money. We can not squander our finances without direction, applying them on unnecessary things.
